Abstract: Fifteen diverse cultivars of Indian mustard in a Completely Randomized block design (CRBD) at AKS University, Satna, during Rabi season on November 2022. Data were collected for twelve quantitative traits and estimated forvariance, genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance. The design of the experiment indicated highly significant differences for all the characters due to treatments. The analysis of variance indicated the existence of sufficient amount of variability among genotypes for all the studiedcharacters. The maximum GCV and PCV was observed for no. of siliquae per plant followed by seed yield per plant, number of primary branches per plants, no. of secondary branches per plant, and biological yield per plant.Higher estimates (h2b) >80% were observed for all the studied characters except harvest index. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance observed for number of primary branches per plants, no. of secondary branches per plant, length of main raceme, no. of siliquae per plant, biological yield per plant, and seed yield per plant indicating that these characters could be prominently governed by additive gene action. So the selection of these traits could be more effective for desired genetic improvement.
